Dr. Kathleen Kara Fitzpatrick is a licensed clinical psychologist. She earned her degree in Clinical Child Psychology at The Ohio State University where she was supported as a University Fellow. Her graduate work focused on pediatric mood and anxiety disorders. Her dissertation focused on suicide in young adults, which earned grant funding from the state of Ohio and cemented her love of treatment development.
She carried this passion for applied clinical research to Stanford University Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry where she completed both a clinical and a research post-doctoral fellowship. During these fellowship years, her love of treatment development found a partnership with eating disorders treatments. She was awarded the Dean's Fellowship for her development of Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT) for Anorexia Nervosa in Adolescents - a unique, neuroscience-based treatment protocols designed to help enhance recovery before renourishment. She spent the next 10 years of her career in academic medicine. She is the creator of several treatments including CRT, ART therapy for adolescents with Anorexia and Family Based Treatment for ARFID as well as Family Based Treatment to support bariatric surgery in youth. She is a fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders (FAED).
She is extensively trained in empirically-supported treatment models for Depression, Anxiety and Eating Disorders and is an expert in lifespan development and parenting. She offers Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family-Based Treatment (for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and ARFID), Systemic Family Therapy (SFT) and Meditation and Mindfulness skills. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, parents and families. Her extensive training has supported a wide-range of skills to identify the treatment that is right for you.
